December 23 - The General visits Riga

December 2011. The General of the Salvation Army, Linda Bond, visited Riga, Latvia, in December for Public meetings, an Officers meeting and a Youth gathering..

December 22 - The Social Centre one year anniversary

The 1st of December our new Social Centre in Avotu Street in Riga had its one year Anniversary. Ruth and myself had the privilege to serve soup to all guests.

December 21. A visit to Iecava

 November 2011. Visiting Iecava corps, one hour south of Riga
 The new Hall started to get filled half an hour before the meeting

December 20 - A visit to Seda

 A Sunday visit to Seda and the Salvation Army Outpost.

December 19 - New soldiers in Drusti

October 2011. Soldier´s enrolment in Drusti, a small village far away out in rural areas.

December 18 - Leader´s Days in Daugavpils

September 2011. The autumn semester started with Leader´s Days for all Latvian Leaders. The days were held in Daugavpils.

December 17 - Visiting Ilmaja

September 2011. Far away from civilisation, in a distant village Ilmaja, The Salvation Army is running an outpost. The outpost celebrated this summer its 12th anniversary with cake, worship service, children´s dedication and of course flowers! The outpost has 15 adherents and gather around forty people for the Sunday worship

December 15 - Opening of the Children´s House in Sarkani

August 2011. The third of August we opened the Children´s House in Sakani. Eleven months earlier we bought a ruin. The building is part of the project "Change a village".

December 14 - A new lieutenant in Latvia

July 2011- After a day with the Ordination Service in the big "Central Hall" (1.500 personer) in central London, it was time for the farewell meeting for the new lieutenants at the School for Officers Training in Denmark Hill. Here you can see the new lieutenant in Latvia, Sarah Ilsters, together with two old lieutenants.

December 13 - Congress in Stockholm

July 2011. In July we travelled with 30 Officers and Cadets to the Swedish Congress in Stockholm.

December 12 - Regional Day in Riga

June 2011. In June the Salvation Army in Latvia was gathered to another Regional Day in Riga. This time we were visited by Ewa-Marie and Markus Kihlagård.

In May we invited Salvation Army Leaders from the other Baltic States to come to our Leaders Day in Riga.

December 9 - Open air meeting in central Riga

During May and June we got permission to have Open Air Meetings on the big stage at Vermanis Park in Riga.

December 8 - Visiting School for Officers Training

In april we had the privilege to have a teaching day at the School for Officers Training in Riga. Here are Latvia´s eight cadets. And here is a film clip about the life at the School:

December 7 - Bible Olympics

Saturday, April 2, seven teams from all over Latvia gathered in Riga for the Bible Olympics for children between seven and twelve years old. Each corps could send a team consisting of one seven year old, one eight year old, one nine year old, one ten year old, one eleven year old and one twelve year old. The teams came from Daugavpils, Iecava, Sarkani, Liepaja, Ilmaja and Drusti.

December 6 - Meeting at Riga 2

In March Ruth and myself had one of the meetings at Riga second corps. The hall was full as always. The majority of the people visiting are homeless. For the first time (and so far the only time) we sang a duet song in Russian.

December 5 - Regional day for women´s minisries

Saturday March 5 there was a Regional Home League day in Riga.

December 4 - Welcome meeting for the new TC

February 26 we had the welcome meeting for our new Territorial Commander for the Sweden/Latvia territory, Marie Willermark. The meeting was held at the Riga 1 corps. You can see more pictures here.

December 3 - Soldiers enrolment at Riga 1

On February 27 there was a soldiers enrolment and welcoming of new adherents at Riga 1 corps. Here are the four new soldiers together with the Corps Leader Sarah Ilsters and ass. Corps Leader Arturs Baltacis. You can see more pictures from the celebration  here.

December 2 - Leader´s days in Skangale

In the end of January all leaders were gathered for a two days meeting at Skangale Manor. Days of information, teaching, sharing, planning, worship and prayers.
